The Ethos of a New Era
2017 ushered in new changes for American society. The country bid farewell to a largely beloved President, and greeted its next with trepidation. Never before in American history has a President taken office under such protest - sentiments which are reverberating around the globe.
These images document protests held in New York City against the 45th President of the United States and his policies. On a larger scale, they capture the ethos of millions upon millions of Americans who fear that life, liberty and pursuit of happiness - the very pillars on which this country was founded - are being compromised.
These images show Americans standing together in solidarity. Viewers are called to remember that although progressive policies seen during the previous administration may seemingly be impeded by the current office, the voice of progress cannot be silenced. These photographs convey the sentiment that Democratic values on women's rights, the environment, and immigration will prevail. These values are reverberating throughout the world and do have the power to impact social change, regardless of who is in office. Though the government may not serve as the channel to effect such changes at the moment, different channels will open up to. These signs show us that American voices for social progress will not be silenced.
This is the Ethos of a New Era.
